The data released by the Ministry of Commerce on April 1 showed that from January to February this year, China's total import and export of services amounted to 1309.56 billion yuan, a year-on-year increase of 9.9%. Among them, exports were 549.58 billion yuan, up 13 per cent; imports were 759.98 billion yuan, up 7.8 per cent. Service trade deficit 210.4 billion yuan, 8.33 billion yuan less than the same period last year.

The person in charge of the Ministry of Commerce Services and Trade Department said in the interpretation of the data, 1-2 months, China's trade in services faster growth, mainly showing the following characteristics: First, knowledge-intensive services trade to maintain growth. 1-2 months, knowledge-intensive services import and export 476.65 billion yuan, an increase of 2.5 per cent. Among them, knowledge-intensive services exports 285.73 billion yuan, an increase of 3.3 per cent, other commercial services, telecommunications, computer and information services exports are larger, amounting to 145.52 billion yuan, 111.9 billion yuan, the growth rate of 4.5 per cent, 6 per cent; knowledge-intensive services imports of 190.92 billion yuan, an increase of 1.4 per cent. Knowledge-intensive services trade surplus of 94.81 billion yuan, expanding 6.38 billion yuan over the same period last year. Secondly, travel services grew the fastest. 1-2 months, travel services continued to maintain high growth, import and export reached 409.8 billion yuan, an increase of 28.9%, for the first major area of trade in services. Among them, exports grew by 142.6 per cent and imports by 21.1 per cent.
